Medical miracle makes musical debut
A 25-year old singer/songwriter from Reading who survived a brain haemorrhage against all odds is being tipped for huge chart success.
Just before Christmas last year Ashley Bruce, from Launceston, suffered a massive brain haemorrhage and was given less than a 5% chance of survival by doctors.
But after neuro-surgeons performed three life-saving operations, lasting over 24 hours, he has lived to tell the tale and launch a promising music career.
After four months of intensive rehabilitation, in which Ashley had to learn how to walk, read, eat and write again, he is continuing to re-learn how to play his guitar.
Ashley's first single "The Man Inside My Head" is due to be released this spring while he is currently putting the finishing touches to his first solo album "Look At Me I'm Flying".
Among those who have tipped Ashley to hit the top is Spandau Ballet's frontman Tony Hadley, who had huge success in the 1980s. A former member of bands Obsession and Phoenix, he also actively supports the work of brain injury charity Headway International and wrote a CD for them last year.
